Crows flying up high (06/09/26)
Today I played Crows and learnt a few things:
- Dungeon design can make the same OSR system feel entirely different (whereas before I mostly thought about it from the other direction, a system can make a dungeon feel entirely different).
- I need to have a think on how to manage when a system is slightly clashing with my expectations of how it will play. Felt like it ran better with people that didn't come from the same expectations as me (maybe I AM the problem, at least in this instance :D).
- I should be trying to combine items in my inventory (and of other player's inventory) more often. Making zombie bait out of jangling pitons and string was fun!
- I am not too fond of complex and deadly combat as a combination. If you are gonna die, better die fast.
- I like mechanical ways to manifest expertise in a character's background during risky situations, especially if they don't require number crunching (Crow's Expertise; Hollows Origins and Perils and Princesses Talents).
